Our First Project
We are currently working with Three Seas, who have negotiated with Cornwall Council the purchase of the Looe Coastguard Flats. Their aim is to redevelop the units with the help of grant funding to provide long-term, affordable rental accommodation for local people. Looe CLT will be supporting this project by providing local contacts, knowledge and time, ensuring that much of the work is carried out by local contractors where possible.
Future plans
Following completion of the Coastguard Flats through your membership support, donations and grant funding we aim to purchase further properties and/or land, which will provide additional affordable housing, local employment to support this and future projects for the people of Looe. We also plan to engage with local property and land owners with the aim of increasing long-term rental accommodation for our local people.
Progress
Looe Coastguard Flats
Initial survey of the building has been completed. The building is safe and can be refurbished. We asked the community for support and The Community Shares offer has raised £200,600.
We will be posting information and photographs on our GALLERY page during the renovation so you will be able to follow the progress as it happens.

Feasibility Study and Report
Our big piece of work over the last few months has created the Project Plan (aka “Feasibility Report”). It ran between September and December 2023 with 14 different specialists involved, and has given us the full detail on the state of the building, the cost of repairs, and the price for the additional work we want to do.
Further ambition: if we can raise even more grant support, we can add higher levels of investment too: a small solar farm, shared heating system, rainwater recycling and more. It’s all in the report!
The Report is done and published, you can get it HERE
